    Shell

Got 10 mins? Watch this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKwajCuqVGc

    So true, isn’t it?!

The first time I watched this, it was like a strong wake up call for me. I have a tendency to get busy (as you may know from previous blogs: my mild ADD syndromes, =p). As I can remember, it probably started from high school. I feel like I need to do something every time. Suddenly, day and night just pass by so quickly. Here we are, near the end of 2009. WOW! Can’t you believe that?

Lately, I was counting, hehe counting my age. I’m almost 24, well to be exact is 23 years and 6.6 months (here, check yours: http://www-users.med.cornell.edu/~spon/picu/calc/agecalc.htm). I thought my sweet seventeen was not too long ago and yet it was almost 7 years ago! Time really flies by so FAST! Hehehe so today I watched my life memories from the video that I have such as my sweet seventeen birthday party in Indo, my 22nd bday dinner in Kansas, my high school prom night in Indo, and also my last worship leader moment in 2004: Easter Celebration GKI Stadion. Many have happened since then.

Back to the video, I really agree with Rob Bell’s statement “sometimes the enemy of the best is the good.” I did soooo many things in the beginning half year of 2009. From conferences both educational and spiritual such as:

    1.       WCC at Occidental, CA on February 13-16

    2.       A Night of Hope with Joel Osteen at Oracle Arena on February 20

    3.       Chris Tomlin’s Hello Love Tour at at SJSU Event Center Arena on March 5

    4.       IFGF SF Retreat at Albion, CA on March 6-8

    5.       “For Women Only” Women’s conference at Los Gatos, CA on May 2

    6.       Set Apart Conference with Leslie Ludy at Greeley, CO on June 6-7

    7.       Robert Kiyosaki Conference (coz there was a time when I really interested to buy property) at San Mateo, CA on June 12-14.

    8.       Investment Accounting training (sent by my company) at Orlando, FL on June 17-19

     Fun things:

    1.       Broadway show “Wicked” at Orpheum Theatre on February 24

    2.       Seattle Trip on May 22-26

    3.       Tahoe Camping Trip on June 20-21

    4.       Academy of Sciences, SF for few times.

    5.       Go to beach every now and then usually Montara Beach or Half Moon Bay, been to Muir beach as well.

Crazy, isn’t it?! Look at the month of June: 3 conferences and camping trip back to back. It was crazy and exhausting. After I watched “Shells” video few months ago, felt like God was telling me: SLOW DOWN.

All those activities were good; they helped me grow spiritually, educationally, and relationally with others. BUT they might not be the best for me, possibly not in the right timing. You see, I don’t have all of these opportunities in Kansas. That’s why I want to grab all those opportunities that come my way just like what Rob Bell said about his boy. His little boy’s hands are full grabbing the pieces of shells; consequently, he can’t grab the beautiful starfish. I don’t want to miss that! I don’t want to miss the beautiful starfish bcoz my hands are full. It’s a strong reminder for me and thank GOD that He told me this at the right time. Coz after June, I was exhausted and my energy was drained till the last drop (please remember that I still work full time, 9 to 5 and sometime there are issues too at work that needs my attention and energy). I can not do everything at once, it’s too much and certainly not wise.

Now my life is at slower pace, I don’t overbook myself anymore. I have time to read books, listen to sermons, read the bible, have longer quite time with Him, and you know what, I like it this way. My beautiful starfish is my relationship with Him ^^ that’s the best thing that I don’t want to miss. I always need Him to keep me moving forward one day at a time and to use my time wisely.

Lastly, I just want to share this precious reminder to you: SLOW DOWN ^^
